ACE New England News April 16, 2011

Hello, ACE New England Region Members and Friends!

Spring is warming up, and I have quite a few messages to pass on to you. Take your time and enjoy scrolling through them all!

*** We have a new regional website! Check it out at http://www.acenewengland.org/ ***

Bob Bussiere, who created and maintained ACE New England\’s very first, prize-winning regional website, has had to step down as our webmaster. We thank him for his years of dedicated service to ACE!

The position of webmaster has been taken over by Pete Flaherty. Pete has worked tirelessly to completely redesign and upgrade the website, including a mobile version. We think you\’ll like the results! There are articles, photos, park and coaster info, a calendar of events, copies of past email blasts and issues of the New England Dispatch, useful links, and more.

While Pete put tremendous effort into the design, structure, and content of the new site, there is still more that can be done, and we could use your assistance! Pete could use some co-editors to help with the narratives of the coaster posts, and also the same for the parks. What he\’s trying to accomplish is a description of the general feel and what makes these parks and rides unique, not just what you could find elsewhere online. Pictures are needed too!

Please contact Pete directly (pjf@cape.com) if want to contribute to the website, offer suggestions, or just give some feedback. Enjoy!

From the New Jersey ACE Region:

Good afternoon ACE NJ members and friends,

If you haven\’t heard, the New Jersey region of ACE is co-hosting this year\’s opening day event at Knoebels. Why ACE New Jersey? Well, typically ACE regions to do not host or co-host events outside of their own region but there is historic significance to the 2011 season that has its routes in New Jersey. This year, Knoebels resurrects yet another classic coaster- the dark ride/ coaster hybrid /Golden Nugget Mine Ride/ that once thrilled kids and adults alike on the defunct Hunt\’s Pier in Wildwood! To be known as /Black Diamond/, the Knoebels version takes on a new theme with stunts ranging from modern to classic and an entirely closed 3rd floor. So, with permission by the ACE Regional Rep Director and blessing of the Central PA region of ACE, we are partnering with DAFE (Darkride and Funhouse Enthusiasts) to bring you \”The Making of a Diamond\” on*Saturday, April 30th*!

Unfortunately, /Black Diamond/ is not yet ready to debut but we\’re anticipating an exclusive opportunity to tour this ride as construction comes to close to completing plus there will be an hour of ERT on the legendary /Phoenix/ as well as lunch! Later in the summer, the Central PA region of ACE will be hosting an event that we\’re certain will afford members the opportunity to finally ride what should be an instant classic. ACE NJ will keep you posted on that event!

If you wish to attend DAFE and ACE NJ presents \”The Making of a Diamond\”, you only have up until *April 15th* to put your registrations in the mail, so hurry!

To download the flyer and registration form, go here:

Spread the word and we hope to see you at Knoebels for opening day and \”The Making of a Diamond\” in just a few weeks!
